Fat Coffee

Updated: Dec 10, 2018

This is my favorite and most delicious biohack of all time - coffee plus fat - oh ya, that's right I'm talking creamy dreamy "bulletproof" coffee!

Coffee mixed with fat! For best results, use high quality (mold tested) coffee beans, grass-fed ghee and MCT (medium chain triglyceride) oil derived from coconut oil.

“Fat coffee = phat brain”

That's right... I went there! Haha!

How to do it

To preserve the beneficial oils from the coffee beans I freshly grind my beans and use a french press to brew. Then in a blender, pour in the fresh hot coffee, 1 teaspoon grass-fed ghee and 1 tablespoon MCT oil and blend. For different flavors I use cinnamon, sea salt and/or high quality pure vanilla.

I drink fat coffee in the morning instead of breakfast in most cases. I have the best results when I drink fat coffee after a workout! This combo is like rocket fuel for my brain! And, with plenty of high quality fats nourishing my body and brain, I don't get the hangries!

How it works

This is a great tool for training your body to be fat adapted - to use fat as your primary source of energy. You may have heard about Keto - its the same concept and a great tool for keto-ers and for anyone wanting to try Intermittent Fasting (also an amazing biohack!).

Fat coffee is amazing for energy and mental focus and clarity! And when paired with some other biohacks, like exercise and IF, is truly powerful and a total game-changer!

So here's the science or "method" behind the madness: First off, coffee has B vitamins, potassium, manganese, and antioxidants, which reduce your risk of degenerative diseases and keep your brain sharp. Also, the bioflavonoids in coffee improve neuron firing in the brain = brain cells communicate faster = better mental performance and recall.

Now, the healthy fats will sustain your energy for hours, balance hormones, and boost cognitive function. Saturated fat in grass-fed ghee slows the absorption of caffeine, which gives you hours of even energy without feeling jittery instead of a caffeine spike and crash. MCT oil converts to ketones, which your brain uses more efficiently for energy than carbs or sugar. When you mix ketones with the slow release caffeine, you will feel your brain turn on and up!
